Creating a academic plan is as easy as 1-2-3 just follow the steps below.
Why create an academic plan? By creating an academic plan and reviewing
it with your advisor you are more likely to complete your program in the least
amount of time, take courses in the proper sequence, and choose courses that
meet your career goals.
- Create a plan by choosing Create a New Plan
from the menu. You will enter some basic information needed by your
advisor including your Student ID. You will
also create a password which will allow you future access. You may wish
to print the page for your records before clicking on the Save button.
Don't worry, you can edit everything except your Student ID later.
- Choose Import a Plan.
Choose a template that matches your major. Transfer templates omit lower
division G.E. classes. This routine will populate your plan with the
recommended classes. You can then edit your plan to match what courses
you have taken and when you plan to take courses in the future. Note:
Importing will add all courses in the template to your existing plan.
Importing more than once will create duplicate entries.
- Choose View/Edit Your Plan. Initially, it
will help to have grade reports handy before you start. You will enter
or edit
each course that you have taken at CSUF or transferred. If you have
taken the course, note the grade. Don't worry about the order since the
system will automatically sort the courses for your. Once you have
entered the "past", you can concentrate on the what you will be taking.
Enter required courses first so you can see where they fit. You can
enter GE or elective courses using a generic title like "Upper Division GE" to
save a place in your plan.
Hint: For GE courses add the GE area as part of the description.
You can always edit or delete an entry using the links on the left of each
entry. Remember that your plan can be changed later.
Print you plan by choosing Print Your Plan.
You can sort it by semester for purposes of signing up for classes or looking
at the number of classes you will be taking each semester. Sort by
Program Area to see how your courses fit into the graduation requirements.
Remember that reviewing you plan with your advisor is important.
