Founded in 1991, SRA is dedicated to educating others about agriculture and its role in today’s society.
Purpose
The purpose of SRA is to provide the public with accurate information about current agricultural issues and practices; to promote awareness of political and environmental issues facing today’s food and fiber producers; and to preserve the future of America’s farming and ranching families.
Major Event
AG DAY
SRA members practice leadership by sponsoring and organizing AG DAY each spring.AG DAY brings hundreds of children from elementary schools throughout the north state to campus to educate them about agriculture and its importance in all of our lives.AG DAY provides the children with a closer look at baby calves, piglets and dairy cows from the University Farm.Bails of hay serve as makeshift cattle ready for roping, and children are provided with hands-on experiences such as milking cows and creating “grass heads” – made of paper cups, grass seeds and dirt.
