Matt Chang, who grew up in Taipei, Taiwan,
received his B.A. in Co-Op Economics from Tamkang University. After
receiving his B.A., he went on to receive his MS and Ph.D. in
Economics from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. While
attending the University of Utah, Chang focused his studies on
natural resources and environmental economics, with acute
concentration on the fishery in the Western and Central Pacific
Ocean. In the fall of 2007 Chang joined the College of Agriculture
as an assistant professor in agri-business.

Research and
Professional Interests
Chang’s main area of
research interest is in the field of natural resources and
environmental economics. He is currently working with Dr. Mitchell
Johns to develop a scenario model study on waste water and soil
management in the cannery industry. Other interests include labor
issues, immigrant workers, and the job-locked effort in the United
States agriculture industry.
