A city boy who grew up in the suburbs of
Boston, Dave Daly pursued agriculture in order to “reconnect with
the land.” After attending the University of Maine in Farmington
for threw years, Dave came to Chico through the National Student
Exchange.
Daly, a 4th year student, is
currently in the plant science department at Chico State, but plans
to transfer to land stewardship. His interest in environmental
issues and policies is a factor in his decision to continue his
education beyond the bachelor’s degree. He is particularly
interested in restoration work, which helps to restore
agriculturally damaged land and streams to a more natural state,
providing a friendly environment for native species.
Daly is a full-time student, works as assistant
manager of safety and operations with A.S. Recycling, and has
recently started working with Tim Devine in the university
greenhouse. Even though his work and studies keep him busy, Daly
still finds the time to take hikes and nature walks, as well as
enjoy the Chico music scene, which he says is “awesome!”
