Dedicating her time to teaching young minds
about agriculture science and biology, Angela Browning was chosen as
the star student in Agriculture Education for the passion and
enthusiasm she brings to the classroom.
“I love trying to stay just a little crazier
than my students,” says Browning, a student intern at Elsie Allen
High School in Santa Rosa, CA.
Browning graduated in May 2005 with a Bachelor
of Science in Agriculture Science and a Minor in Spanish. She is
currently completing the second semester of her credential program
at Chico State.
Transferring from Cal Poly in her junior year,
Browning says she chose California State University, Chico for “the
opportunity for hands-on experience, great relationships with
professors, and the Chico community.”
While at Chico State, Browning immersed
herself in extra-curricular activities that developed her skills as
an educator. She spent time assisting with FFA conferences and
trainings, teaching English to Spanish speakers through Community
Action Volunteers in Education, and even participating in the
production of a Spanish Department play.
Combining her love of teaching with a passion
for agriculture, the former National Future Farmers of America
Western Region Vice President is enjoying teaching agriculture
science and has a strong belief in the value it provides to high
school students.
“I believe strongly in the well rounded
development that agriculture science and FFA offer students,” says
Browning. “An education in agriculture provides you the basic
knowledge for a wide variety of careers.”
Browning hopes to continue teaching
agriculture in California and learning more about the agriculture
industry in her career endeavors. But educating high school students
is at the forefront of her aspirations.
Says Browning, “I love cultivating
relationships with students and watching them grow.”
