The College of Agriculture has been working to enhance development efforts for over seven years. We currently have $1,159,000 in endowments that support either scholarships or academic programs within the College of Agriculture. Through a relatively modest effort the College of Agriculture has averaged $517,000 in cash and in-kind gifts over the last four years.
Each year the College of Agriculture awards more than $62,000 in scholarships to over 60 students. These scholarships are funded from the income generated by endowments or from annual donations made by alumni and friends of the College of Agriculture.Of special note is the College Faculty/Staff Scholarship that is awarded to one student each year. This scholarship is funded entirely by donations made each year by our staff and faculty.
The College of Agriculture has a wide network of successful graduates that can be utilized to supplement the declining resources provided by the State of California. The College is hiring a full time development director and has been developing and reaffirming relationships with the College of Agriculture alums. Efforts are currently underway to strengthen relationships with both long time donors and friends of the College of Agriculture, as well as alums.
